About Aeropostal

Founded in 1929, Aeropostal Alas de Venezuela, also known as Aeropostal, was an airline from Venezuela and is based in Caracas. Aeropostal Alas de Venezuela operates domestic services and international services in South America.

The airline's main base was Simon Bolivar International Airport, Caracas. The airline originally ceased operations in 1994, before it was revived by new owners a few years later. Aeropostal offered scheduled passenger services to its customers for over 15 years after it was revived. However, due to a difficult financial situation, the airline had to cease operations again in mid-2017.

 


Aeropostal Fleet

The airlines' fleet consisted of a mix of Mcdonnell Douglas MD-82 and Mcdonell Douglas MD-83.

 


Aeropostal Destinations

The airline operated international flights from Caracas to Havana and Santiago de Cuba in Cuba as well as domestic flights to Pormalar.

Simon Bolivar International Airport

Simon Bolivar International Airport is located in Maiquetia, Caracas and is the main international air passenger gateway to Venezuela among the twelve international airports in the country. It handles flights to many destinations in the Americas, the Caribbean and some in Europe. Simon Bolivar International Airport used to be the airport hub for Aeropostal.

Other airlines which use Simon Bolivar include Aeromexico, Aerolineas Argentinas, Insel Air, Avianca, Aerolineas Estelar and LATAM Airlines. It has two runways and can handle almost 20 million passengers every year.
