Air Kiribati Limited is Kiribati’s national airline. It operates charter flights, but also medical evacuation and search and rescue services. They offer international services, but focus mainly on domestic flights within the Gilbert Islands of Kiribati.
The airline began in 1995, but it’s history can be traced back to the 1970s with the previous airline Air Tungaru. Air Kiribati did not commence domestic flights until 2016, and international flights until 2017 once it was awarded it’s IATA code.
Air Kiribati is wholly owned by the Kiribati government and is the national flag carrier of Kiribati.
Baggage allowance for Air Kiribati domestic flights is 15kg.
Air Kiribati passengers must check in at the airport since the airline doesn't offer online check in.
Air Kiribati are yet to offer online check-in for their flights.
For all flights, passengers must check-in at the airport. For domestic flights, this service will open 1 hour before departure, closing 30 minutes prior to departure. For international routes to Honiara and Brisbane, these are operated by Solomon Airlines, so check-in will be with them. Check with Solomon Airlines to see check-in start and end times.

Bonriki International Airport is the main gateway to Kiribati. It is located in Kiribati’s capital, South Tarawa, in the Gilbert Islands. The airport was first built in 1943, and currently has one runway.
