Air Kiribati Limited is Kiribati’s national airline. It operates charter flights, but also medical evacuation and search and rescue services. They offer international services, but focus mainly on domestic flights within the Gilbert Islands of Kiribati.
The airline began in 1995, but it’s history can be traced back to the 1970s with the previous airline Air Tungaru. Air Kiribati did not commence domestic flights until 2016, and international flights until 2017 once it was awarded it’s IATA code.
Air Kiribati is wholly owned by the Kiribati government and is the national flag carrier of Kiribati.
Baggage allowance for Air Kiribati domestic flights is 15kg.
For international services to Honiara and Brisbane, passengers in economy class are permitted 30kg of luggage.
Air Kiribati are yet to offer online check-in for their flights.
For all flights, passengers must check-in at the airport. For domestic flights, this service will open 1 hour before departure, closing 30 minutes prior to departure.
