About Air Namibia

Air Namibia was the national flag carrier of Namibia and operates scheduled domestic, regional and international passenger services from its base at Windhoek, the capital and largest city in Namibia.

Air Namibia was wholly owned by the Namibian Government and is positioned as a niche carrier, serving domestic points within Namibia as well as the immediate regional markets of South Africa, Zimbabwe, Angola, Zambia and Botswana. The airline flew to 6 destinations in Africa and 6 towns domestically within Namibia. Air Namibia also had convenient connections to over 17 European countries through Frankfurt.

Air Namibia offered either a one cabin (Economy) aircraft, or two cabin configuration (Economy and Business) aircraft.

Air Namibia Reward$ Card Holders were entitled to additional baggage allowance, route depending. Those who purchased a discount fare (such as a Student Fare) would be subject to limited baggage allowance - this would also be confirmed at the time of booking.

Economy Class was one of two cabin classes that Air Nambia offers.

Economy Class Facilities

On international flights, passengers were given access to the airline's in-flight entertainment system, which was available to watch through touch screen monitors that are fitted to each seat.

What wereEconomy Class Seats Like?

Seats were set out in a 1 x 2 formation for short-haul domestic flights and either a 3 x 3 or 2 x 4 x 2 formation for longer international flights. Seats had 31 inches of pitch, were fitted with personal monitors and also had a power supply which can be used to charge personal electronic devices. Each seat came with an adjustable headrest.

Each passenger was given a pillow and blanket for relaxation.


Economia Premium

Air Namibia didn't have a Premium Economy cabin.


Business

Business Class was available on select flights and offers an excellent standard of service with a number of extra perks and facilities. Air Namibia's Business Class product was called 'Prestige'

Instalaciones

Business Class passengers could enjoy a range of television shows and films on the airline's in-flight entertainment system, as well as a range of English and German magazines and newspapers.

Each passenger was given a high-quality blanket and pillow and an amenity kit which included a variety of hygiene products and a sleep mask.

Before the flight, passengers were given access to the airline's lounge, which was available at select airports.

What were Business Class Seats Like?

Business Class seats were set out in a 2 x 2 x 2 formation. Each seat had 190 cm of pitch and reclines 180 degrees flat into a bed. Each seat c ame fitted with a personal television monitor, power supply for charging personal electronic devices and a reading lamp.


Primera clase

Air Nambia didn't have a First Class cabin. If wanting to upgrade from Economy Class, passengers can choose a Business Class seat.


In-flight Meals

Economy Class: opportunity to order food and drink from the airline's in-flight menu. Food and drink was complementary on some flights, but might not be on short-haul and domestic flights.

Business Class: In-flight, passengers cpuld order complimentary food and drink from the airline's marvellous in-flight menu.

Special Meals

Air Namibia offered the following special meals: Kosher, Halaal, Hindu, oriental, sea-food, diabetic, vegetarian, infant or baby food.

Air Namibia upgraded its long-haul product in 2012. All passengers, including Economy passengers, could enjoy personal video screens providing video and audio on-demand. Passengers could choose from the latest blockbusters, classic films, or popular TV.

WIFI

WiFi was not available on Air Namibia flights.

Rewards

Air Namibia had a Frequent Flyer Program called 'Reward$'. Reward miles could be collected on domestic, regional and international flights operated by Air Namibia.

Earned miles could then be redeemed and exchanged for free flight tickets and could also be used to upgrade from economy to business class cabins and gain extra baggage allowance. There were three levels of membership depending on miles flown: Silver, Gold, and Platinum.

Windhoek Hosea Kutako International Airport

Windhoek Hosea Kutako International Airport is the main international airport serving the Namibian capital city of Windhoek. Air Namibia uses this airport as its main hub. Other airlines which fly to and from Air Botswana, Air Namibia, Airlink, British Airways, Condor, South African Airways and TAAG Angola Airlines. The airport has two runaways and can handle nearly 1 million passengers.

Travelling with children to and from Namibia

In mayo 2019, the Namibian government released a Media Release with information for travellers about Travelling to and from Namibia with children due to increasing threats and incidents of child trafficking.

Any parents travelling with a child who is 18 years or younger should carry their child's full birth certificate with them. This is in addition to their passport, and not instead of.

A parent that is travelling without their partner, i.e. one parent travelling on their own, must provide consent for the child to travel on their own with the other parent. A death certificate must be provided if the other parent is deceased.

If a child is travelling with an adult who is not their biological parent, they must provide a written statement of consent from the child's parent or legal guardian.

Unaccompanied Minors

A written statement of consent should be provided from the parents or legal guardian that they have approved the child for travel and contact details. In addition, a statement should be provided from the adult who will be meeting the child, along with a residential address, contact details and documents such as identity document or valid passport and visa or permit of permanent residence.

Air Namibia resumes flights to Zimbabwe

After briefly suspending their Harare International and Victoria Falls services in October, Air Namibia has announced the services to Zimbabwe are to recommence. The Harare route will run three times weekly from the 28 octubre. The Victoria Falls flights will run six times per week.
