The Cabin

Air New Zealand domestic services are operated by its narrow body fleet which includes the A320ceo family, A320neo family, ATR 72 and Dash 8 aircraft. Standard Seat Fare with one carry-on bag

 

This is the perfect and the cheapest option for you if you’re travelling light with no heavy baggage. This fare option has the following conditions:

  • Seat can be selected at a cost

Seat + Bag

This fare option allows you to carry on a check-in baggage which can weigh up to 23kg. The conditions for this fare option is listed below.

  • 1 carry-on bag weighing up to 7kg
  • 1 checked-in bag weighing up to 23kg
  • Standard seat, inflight snack, tea or coffee
  • Seat selection will cost a fee 
  • No refund available upon cancellation
  • Ticket cannot be transferred to any other person

Flexichange

Flexirefund

This is the most flexible and the most expensive fare option available for Air New Zealand domestic flights. It allows for the change of the day or time of travel, free seat selection, 2 checked-in bags and is fully refundable. The details of this fare option is listed below:

  • 1 checked-in bag weighing up to 23kg
  • Standard seat, inflight snack, tea or coffee
  • Free seat selection

  • Cancellation is fully refundable and there won’t be any refund fee
  • If you don’t show up for your flight, you can still get a later flight if available. However, if you wish to cancel your flight, a cancellation fee will be charged
  • Ticket cannot be transferred to any other person
  • No refund upon cancellation
  • Eligible for Air New Zealand loyalty points, called Airpoints

Koru Hour Flights

Air New Zealand Koru Hour flights offer additional snacks and drink choices on its domestic routes. These flights are operated by Airbus A320 family of aircraft on routes between Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin, Wellington and Queenstown. Koru Hours flights are between 4:35pm and 7:05pm on Monday to Fridays.

On all Air New Zealand domestic flights, you have the choice to check-in online or at the airport.

Online

To check-in online, just visit the Air New Zealand Manage Bookings page and enter your ticket reference number and your family name. You can check-in online from up to 24 hours before your scheduled flight departure time.

If you’ve booked flights with Alternative Airlines, your reference number will be located on the e-ticket that we send to you after booking.

Check-in for domestic flights closes 30 minutes before departure. Therefore, it is best to leave early from home with plenty of time to spare.

What is Air New Zealand's 24 hour cancellation policy for domestic flights?

If you wish to cancel your domestic flight, in most cases you will not get a refund from Air New Zealand. Only the FlexiRefund ticket is eligible for full refund upon cancellation. So if you are unsure of your travel dates, FlexiRefund might be a good option for you.
