When customers search for flights through Alternative Airlines’ website, the cleaning and safety practices of each airline are now clearly displayed in the flight results — all thanks to data available through ATPCO’s new product, Structured UPAs.
11.02.21 — Alternative Airlines, a global flight-search and booking site focused on providing a seamless flight booking experience from anywhere in the world, has integrated with ATPCO’s new Structured UPA product to display essential airline information to customers amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
ATPCO launched Structured Universal Product Attributes (UPAs), a new format of Routehappy’s Rich Content, in response to the evolving needs of travellers during the global Coronavirus pandemic. Thanks to Structured UPAs, Alternative Airlines now clearly displays new essential airline information when customers select a flight, including the following cleaning and safety practices:
1. Cleaning: whether airlines are using disinfectants to clean aircraft and how often
2. Masks: whether wearing a face covering is a requirement
3. Temperature checks: whether there is a pre-flight temperature check requirement
4. Blocked seats: whether an airline is blocking adjacent or middle seats, or if only some seats are blocked
5. Capacity: whether an airline is limiting the capacity on flights to ensure social distancing
Alternative Airlines displays these five topics to show the current cleaning and safety practices of over 300 of the 600+ global airlines available to book through Alternative Airlines. And, allows travellers to compare the practices of each airline to ensure they’ll feel safe and protected when they fly.
Thanks to Alternative Airlines’ user-friendly icons, this information is easy to identify throughout the booking process, first in the search results and then into the rest of the booking flow.
ATPCO decided on the five categories after a thorough consultation process, focused on identifying and providing the most valuable information. The data is sourced directly from each airline’s website and is time sensitive and constantly updated by ATPCO.
Sam Argyle, Managing Director at Alternative Airlines, commented: “More than ever, it's so important that travelers have an easy and reliable way to access the information that is at the top of their priorities. We hope that by displaying cleanliness and safety information in a format that our customers can easily understand at a glance, will help build flight shopper confidence.”
Structured UPAs were developed by ATPCO during the pandemic to provide its partners with standardised, simplified, and streamlined access to each airline's cleaning procedures and advisory measures, and are a complementary product to ATPCO’s existing Reassurance UPAs. Argyle added: “Delivering great customer experience is crucial to us, so we greatly value ATPCO’s innovation during the pandemic. Structured UPAs demonstrate ATPCO’s customer-centric focus, responding to the coronavirus by developing a product that enables us to display the crucial airline information that matters most to our customers.”
Integrating with ATPCO’s new product is the latest step Alternative Airlines has taken to support its customers and help build confidence, having also recently partnered with Refund Protect to offer a flight insurance option on all flight bookings.
