About Arajet

Arajet is a new low-cost airline based in the Dominican Republic. The airline although new is actually a rebrand from 2014 launched Flycana Airlines (Dominican Wings). However, in 2021 it was announced that the airline would rebrand into Arajet and pivot away from its current charter business model into a scheduled low-cost airline. Arajet has planned to begin services in julio 2022 and will be based at Las Américas International Airport in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

The airline currently has 2 Boeing 737MAX aircraft in its fleet and has plans to welcome up to 50 aircraft over the next few years. The airline previously operated an Airbus A320 on lease from Avion Express but has since retired this after Avion Express sold the majority of its stake to Mr Victor Pacheco. Arajet hasn't yet published its intended route map however, it has stated it plans on operating services to the United States, the Caribbean and Latin America from the Dominican Republic.

However, it has stated it plans on operating serviced from the Dominican Republic to the United States, Cuba, Colombia, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, St. Maarten, Curaçao, Mexico, Panama, Aruba, Guadeloupe, Guatemala, Peru, Haiti, Trinidad & Tobago, Canada, El Salvador and Jamaica. Carry-on allowance has yet to become available. More information will be available closer to the airline launch.

All items onboard the flight must fit within the overhead lockers and under the seat. Any items that don't fit in the compartments may not be allowed onboard and be asked to transport as checked baggage. All valuables and lithium batteries should be in the carry-on baggage with you for safety and security reasons.

Equipaje Facturado

Arajet is yet to publish its intended checked baggage policy. However, as the airline is operating a low-cost business model it may be likely that baggage doesn't come included on standard fare tickets and must be purchased additionally. However, More information will be available closer to the airline launch.

Any checked baggage exceeding 32kg won't be accepted as checked baggage due to international health and safety reasons. You can add excess baggage to your booking when you booking on Alternative Airlines.

Check-In Online

Online check-in is not currently available as Arajet hasn't yet launched services. It is not yet clear if the airline will offer these facilities, however, more details will be published closer to the launch date.

If check-in is available for the airline, you're always recommended to check-in online before arriving at the airport as it'd save time queuing at the airport. You'd need to prepare your travel documentation and flight details in order to check-in for your flight.

If online check-in isn't available, please arrive at the airport early for check-in.

At Alternative Airlines, we recommend passengers to arrive at the airport 2 hours before for domestic flights and 3 hours before for international airlines the scheduled departure time.

When you arrive at the airport, you should report to the airline check-in counters as soon as possible. The designated airline check-in area will be displayed on the departure information board and the counters will be labelled with the airline name and logo.

Travel Class

Arajet has stated that they will offer a single class cabin onboard all of their aircraft. The airline will have 189 leather upholstered seats onboard its aircraft. Arajet CEO Pacheco has stated that its passengers "Can expect in the first place economic fares. They will also receive high-quality service, on-time departures, and efficiency. We are not an ultra-low-cost carrier. We are an ultra-low-price airline because we will focus on providing an excellent onboard service to the customer and treat them as they deserve". However, more information about the onboard service and experience hasn't yet been publicised.

Inflight Entrertainment & Wifi

As the airline is operating under the low-cost or ultra-low-cost business model it is not likely that they will have inflight entertainment including Wifi facilities installed onboard their aircraft. However, details of this remain unknown. We always recommend bringing your own entertainment for your flight to avoid boredom if inflight entertainment is not offered.

Food & Beverages

It is unsure how Arajet intends on delivering its food and beverages service onboard. However, as the airline is low-cost it may be likely that they will offer a buy on board service including drinks, snacks and meals to purchase. More information about the level of meal service offered will be published nearer the airlines launch.

Las Américas International Airport (SDQ)is an international airport situated in Punta Caucedo in the Dominican Republic. It's one of the 2 airports in Santo Domingo, the other one being La Isabela. Las Américas International Airport is the second busiest airport in the country. Two passenger terminals and a runway is used to accommodate more than 3.5 million passengers per annum.

It's a hub for Air Santo Domingo and Sky High Aviation Services. Other airlines include Aeromexico, Air Antilles, Air Caraibes, Air Europa, American Airlines, Avianca, Condor, Copa Airlines, Delta, Eastern Airlines, Frontier Airlines, Iberia, InterCaribbean Airways, Sky Cana Airlines, Spirit Airlines, United Airlines and Wingo.
