Ava Airways initially had plans to launch in marzo 2020, however, due to the coronavirus pandemic, this was suspended. The revised launch date has been pushed back and now the airline is now expected to commence flights in the summer or autumn of 2021.

Although based at Domingo Las Americas International Airport in the Dominican Republic, chosen because of the country's favorable location and bilateral status, Ava Airways has been established by its founders as an ‘Airline of the Americas’ and is set to connect countries across the continent.

Domingo Las Americas International Airport (SDQ) is an international airport located in Punta Caucedo, near the city of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. The airport is the second-busiest in the country, after Punta Cana International Airport. The airport has numerous flights to other countries within South and North America, as well as to elsewhere across the world.
