Avianca Guatemala previously known as Aviateca, is an airline offering scheduled flights out of its hub base, La Aurora International Airport (GUA) in Guatemala City, Guatemala. The airline was founded in 1929 as Aerovías de Guatemala and in 1945, the airline was nationalized and changing its brand name to Empresa Guatemalteca de Aviación S. A., or Aviateca as a short abbreviation. Aviateca stayed under the government until 1989 when it joined the TACA Airline Alliance of Central America and the airline became privatised. It was wholly integrated into TACA, who later merged with Avianca and currently are known as Guatemala Avianca as they are a subsidiary of Avianca. The airline also can a secondary hub in the city of Flores at Mundo Maya International Airport (FRS).
The airlines currently operate regularly scheduled to 8 destinations within Guatemala, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras and Panama.
In total, the airline has a fleet of 2 turboprop aircraft, ATR 72-600 that can in total carry 136 passengers at one time.

Passengers are entitled to one item of free carry-on baggage and one free personal item
Carry-on baggage for each passenger should not exceed weight allowance of more than 10kg and the maximum dimensions of 115 cm.
Equipaje Facturado
Passengers bags in checked baggage shouldn't be more than 158cm for the combined linear dimensions (length + width + height).
For domestic flights in Guatemala, passengers are allowed two pieces of 23kg of checked baggage.
Clase Económica
Economy class passengers should choose their flights purchases with a range with changes to tickets, baggage allowances, LifeMiles collection and seat selection.
Passengers can get inflight entertainment, as well as food and drink (depending on the flight and duration of it).
Premium Economy Class
There isn't currently any premium economy fare on Avianca Guatemala flights.
Business
Passengers flying with the economy class can enter an auction for an opportunity to upgrade to the business class. This class includes priority boarding, extra baggage, VIP lounge and a premium food and drink service on board.

Avianca Guatemala doesn't currently offer first-class services.

The airport is located in the 6.4 km south of Guatemala City. It's the is the fourth busiest airport in Central America in terms of passenger traffic after Tocumen International Airport (PTY) in Panamá, Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJA) in Costa Rica, and Monseñor Óscar Arnulfo Romero International Airport (SAL) ;in El Salvador.

Avianca Guatemala isn't currently part of any airline alliance however they are a subsidiary of Aviana.
