Baltimore–Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, also known as BWI or BWI Marshall, is an international airport located in Baltimore, Maryland. The airport mainly facilitates domestic flights within the US but also has a range of flights travelling internationally, including to Canada, the UK and Germany.
Along with Washington Dulles International and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, it's one of three major airports in the Baltimore–Washington area and the busiest in the area.
There are no airlines based at the airport but Southwest Airlines and Southern Airways Express use the airport as a focus city.
Baltim–Washington International Thurgood Marshall opened in 1950, with the first flight landing at the airport on Eastern Airways.

Airport Location
BWI Marshall is located south of downtown Baltimore and northeast of Washington.DC. It can take between 20–60 minutes to drive to the airport from downtown Baltimore and 40–90 minutes to drive to Washington D.C, depending on the time of day.

The airports has three runways altogether. This consists of two major runways, 10/28 and 15R/33L, and one minor runway 10/28.
Runway 10/28 (3,201 m in length) is one of the airport's major runways and is mainly used for departures heading west and arrivals incoming east.
Runway 15R/33L (2,896 m) is the airport's other major runway and is split with 15R only used for departures and 33L only used for arrival.
Runway 15L/33R (1,524 m in length) is the airport's minor runway and only has the capability for small propeller aircraft.
Terminals
Baltimore–Washington International has one terminal building which is split into five concourses, which are named A–E. During renovations over the years, concourses A and B and concourses D and E respectively merged into two larger concourses, although they're still separated by name.
Concourses A and B are used exclusively by Southwest Airlines.
Concourse C is used by American Airlines, Countour Airlines and Southwest.
Concourse E is used for international flights from airlines such as British Airways and Condor.
Concourse D is used for flights from all other airlines.

How to get to BWI Marshall Airport
By driving
Car rental and parking facilities are available at the airport.
The car rental facility is located at Stoney Run Road and New Ridge Road — 7432 New Ridge Road. Hanover, MD 21076. There is a free shuttle service that will take you between the airport and car rental.
By taxi
You can flag down a taxi in popular areas but it might not be as easy in lesser-known places. Alternatively, pre-order a taxi from a local cab company or get the person(s) in charge of your accommodation to order a taxi for you. There are also a number of popular taxi apps, such as Uber and Lyft available to use in the area.
By rail
The light rail travels between downtown Baltimore and Concourse E of BWI Marshall Airport, with popular stops at Camden Yards and the Convention Centre.
By bus
The Maryland Transit Administration, also known as MTA, connects the airport to the surrounding areas with two different routes — route 17 and route 99.
Route 17 connects the airport to Parkway Center, Arundel Mills Mall Airport 100 park and Patapsco Light Rail Station.
Route 99 connects the airport to University of Maryland Baltimore County and the Community college Baltimore County–Catonsville.
