Buta Airways is an airline that is based out of Baku. The airline mainly operates international flights from its hub airport at Baku Heydar Aliyev International Airport, along with a small number of domestic flights within Azerbaijan.
The airline is a full subsidiary of Azerbaijan Airlines and was set-up in 2016 under the name AZALJet. The purpose of AZALJet was to give a low-cost alternative to Azerbaijan Airlines flights. In 2017, AZALJet suspended operations and it was announced that the airline would completely restart under the 'Buta Airways' name.
In 2018, the airline flew its inaugural flights with a service between Baku and Sophia. Shortly thereafter, a number of additional routes were added to countries within Europe and West Asia.
Buta Airway's has different baggage policies for carry-on and checked baggage.
Carry-on baggage can be purchased as an extra to the free checked baggage allowance. There's no carry-on baggage weight limit, however, it must fit within the dimensions of 55 cm x 35 cm x 20 cm.
Passengers are entitled to 10kg free carry-on baggage with the maximum dimensions of 158 cm overall. Additional carry-on baggage is available for a charge.
Passengers can also purchase checked baggage of up to 23kg, with the maximum dimensions of 158cm overall.
Buta Airways has different check-in opening and closing times depending on whether your flight is domestic or international, as well as your method of check-in.
Online check-in is available on the airline's online check-in page. Passengers can check-in by using their reservation number or ticket number. Online check-in is available from 24 hours up until two hours before scheduled flight departure time.
Airport check-in closes 60 minutes before scheduled flight departure time for all flights. To check-in at the airport, passengers must present the relevant travel documents to one of the airline check-in agents at the airline check-in desk.
