Cargolux is a airline based in Luxembourg, operating cargo services. It’s global network means that it is one of the leading and largest all-cargo airlines in Europe. The airline was first established in 1970 by Luxair, and it started flying operations later in 1970 with a Canadair CL-44 fleet.
The airport is headquartered in Luxembourg Airport, where it has its hub alongside its other hub, Tolmachevo Airport. The airline has a subsidiary called Cargolux Italia. Cargolux currently has 28 aircraft in its fleet, and flies to 90 destinations worldwide.
The airline has many alliances, its first being with China Airlines in 1982 in the form of a strategic alliance.
Lufthansa had a 24.5% share in the airline from 1987, but in 1997 sold its share to Star Logistics. The second largest shareholder after Luxair is now Qatar Airways, which purchased shares in 2011.
