About Connect Airways

Connect Airways is a British consortium formed in diciembre 2018. The consortium was founded by Virgin Atlantic (which owns 30%), Stobart Air (which owns 30%) and Cyrus Capital Partners (which owns the remaining 40%).

The Connect Airways consortium was set up by Virgin Atlantic in febrero 2019, to acquire the British regional airline Flybe. Flybe, Britain’s biggest domestic airline, had put itself up for sale in noviembre 2018, following a profit warning the previous month.

As part of this acquisition, the Connect Airways consortium will be rebranding Flybe to operate as a new Virgin brand; Stobart Air will also operate under this new Virgin brand. Although set to subsequently operate under this new brand, both Connect Airways and Stobart Air will retain their own Air Operator Certificates.

For now, Flybe’s extensive network will remain in operation under the Flybe brand name. According to the airline, all flights will continue to operate as normal, using the existing Flybe name. The Future

Eventually, Flybe will be completely rebranded and will operate as a new Virgin airline. Virgin have commented that this new airline will be based on a low-cost customer-centric strategy, focused on offering an enhanced customer experience.

The newly branded airline will offer more choice for customers across the UK and will be used to offer passengers new connections from Virgin’s long-haul flights. There will be an emphasis on regional short-haul flights, with an enhanced presence at Heathrow and Manchester airports.

Virgin has announced that the newly branded airline will offer improved connectivity between UK regional airports and Virgin Atlantic’s extensive long-haul network, with a focus on at London Heathrow and Manchester Airport.
