Germany is currently made up of sixteen states, which each make up 5 regions of Germany.
Northern Germany consists of Bremen, Hamburg, Lower Saxony, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Schleswig-Holstein. It is characterised by windy sloping hills, and its prolific location on the North Sea and Baltic Sea coastline.

Eastern Germany consists of Berlin, Brandenburg, Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt. Located on the eastern border with the Czech Republic and Poland, this region is known mainly for the capital Berlin and Dresden, both of which are rich in history and culture.
Southern Germany consists of Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria and is known for the Alps, Black Forest and Oktoberfest.
