Aeroflot

Aeroflot is one of the world’s oldest airlines that is still operational. It was founded in 1923, making it almost 100 years old. This airline is based out of Moscow where is also has it’s hub at Sheremetyevo International Airport, and operates flights across the world but also to around 60 destinations within Russia.

S7 Airlines

S7 Airlines is a Russian airline which was founded in 1957 and is based in Ob, Novosibirsk, Russia. This airline is currently Russia’s biggest domestic airline, flying to over 60 destinations in Russia alone, and an additional 90 destinations internationally. This airline has hubs as Moscow and Novosibirsk, and also focuses its destinations on the cities of Irkutsk, St. Petersburg and Vladivostok.

Rossiya Airlines

Rossiya Airlines is a Russian airline with a base in Saint Petersburg, and a hub at Pulkovo Airport, and secondary hubs at Moscow, Rostov-on-Don and Orenburg airports. The airline is 75% owned by Aeroflot, who is now its parent company. This airline flies to over 30 domestic destinations, but also to many destinations across Europe.

UTair

UTair is a Russian airline which is based in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia and whose main hubs are at Surgut International Airport and Vnukovo International Airport. The airline’s focus is mainly on domestic flights, although it does operate some international flights and charter flight services within western Siberia. Within Russia, the airline flies to many places such as Belgorod, Sochi, Ulan-Ude and Yekaterinburg, although the total number of domestic destinations is over 50, and international destinations around 20.

Ural Airlines

Ural Airlines is an airline based in Yekaterinburg, Russia where it also has one of its bases at Koltsovo, but also one at Moscow-Domodedovo. The airline also has 3 secondary hubs, at Moscow Sheremetyevo, Moscow Zhukovsky and Saint Petersburg. Focus cities are also located in Chelyabinsk, Irkursk, Krasnodar, Mineralnye Vody, Samara, Novosibirsk-Tolmachevo and Ufa. This airline was formed in 1943 as part of Aeroflot, but didn’t start flying operations until 50 years later in 1993.

Pobeda Airlines

Pobeda is a low-cost airline based in Russia who is owned wholly by Aeroflot. This airline flies to over 60 destinations, with almost half of these being in Russia. This airline is a subsidiary of Aeroflot, who created it in an attempt to form a low-cost airline in Russia. The airline has its hub in Vnukovo International Airport, and has focus cities at Pulkovo, Sochi, Platov, Anapa and Koltsovo. This airline is featured as one of our ‘Cheapest Airlines in the World’. Are there any airlines that have ceased flying?

Over the years there have been a number of airlines in Russia that have unfortunately ceased operating. This includes Kogalymavia Airlines, which ceased flying operations in 2015, and Moskovia Airlines, which suspended operations in 2014. Many of the routes which were previously operated by these airlines have since been picked-up by the airlines listed above.
