What is the Day of Arafah?
The Day of Arafah (or Arafāt) is a sacred and virtuous day in the Muslim calender. On this day, many Muslim pilgrims gather on the plain and slopes of Arafât.
The day is a religious ceremony which commemorates the Prophet Muhammad. According to some Islamic traditions, the Day of Arafah is the day that the Prophet Muhammad gave his Farewell Sermon, otherwise known as the ‘Khutbat al-Wada'. This sermon is believed to have been given to his Sahabah (Companions), who had accompanied him for the Hajj towards the end of his life, upon the slopes of Arafât.
When is Arafah 2022?
The Day of Arafah is held on the ninth day of the Islamic lunar month. In 2022 this will be on julio 8. Arafat Day is also on the second day of the Hajj pilgrimage and the day before the first day of the Islamic Holiday of Eid ul-Adha.
Where is Arafat?
Arafat is celebrated by Muslims around the world. Hundreds of thousands of Muslims also take a pilgrimage to Mount Arafāt (or Mount Arafah). Mount Arafā is a large granite hill, east of Mecca in the plain of Arafat, and is of immense religious significance. Pilgrims observe the day of Arafat by standing in contemplative vigil.

King Abdulaziz International Airport
King Abdulaziz International Airport (JED) is an international airport located in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. It is the third largest and the busiest airport in Saudi Arabia. The airport opened a new Hajj Terminal in 2019, which was built specifically to cater for Muslim pilgrims heading to Mecca annually on the pilgrim of Hajj. The airport is a hub for the following airlines: Flynas, and Saudia.
Distance from Arafat: Approximately 60 miles, which takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes by car.
