About Ghana Airways
Ghana Airways (Ghana Airways Limited) is the national carrier of the Republic of Ghana. The airline has its primary hub at Kotoka International Airport, in Accra. Ghana Airways was the name of an airline that was established in 1958 by the government of Ghana, which stopped operating passenger flights in 2004.
Airline Update
In 2020 it was announced that Ghana Airways is being revived, having previously ceased operations in 2004. The Government of Ghana announced that the airline was set to be restarted, in partnership with Egyptair. Egyptair will provide technical and operational support.

Destinations
The country’s new national carrier will initially operate a regional network. Ghana Airways has stated that it’s order of three 787-9 Dreamliners was based on the decision of providing efficient and flexible regional services.
It is expected that the airline will then have plans to begin operating international flights.

Kotoka International Airport (ACC) is the international airport serving Accra, the capital of Ghana. The airport currently has two passenger terminals, Terminal 2 (used for domestic flights) and Terminal 3 (used for regional, international and long-haul flights).
Kotoka International Airport is currently the primary hub for Africa World Airlines, which provides domestic and regional flights within Ghana, as well as being a base for PassionAir, which is also a domestic operator. Other airlines which fly to ACC include Air Burkina, Arik Air, Dana Air, Delta Air Lines, Ethiopian Airlines, KLM, Goldstar Airlines and Kenya Airways.

Ghana partners with EgyptAir to launch new flag carrier
The government of Ghana has partnered with EgyptAir to re-establish the new Ghanaian flag carrier, following the signing of A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Ghana in 2018 had signed a similar MoU with Ethiopian Airlines. However, the deal was held back due to disagreement over key points of discussion, including routes and funding.
The new airline will be operating from its headquarter in Accra, providing a network of routes throughout Ghana and elsewhere within Africa, as well as North and South America.
