Historia

Ghana International Airlines was the national airline of Ghana from 2005 to 2010. It operated scheduled and charter passenger services out of its hub airport, Kotoka International Airport, in Accra.

The airline first began operations in 2005 with daily flights between Accra and London. It also began seasonal services to Johannesburg and Düsseldorf. Ghana International Airlines is owned by the Ghanaian government and the US consortium.

Update: Ghana International Airlines suspended operations in 2010.

Ghana International Airlines' hub was at Kotoka International Airport. This airport is an international airport in Accra, the capital of Ghana - it is currently the only international airport in the country. Africa World Airlines uses this airport as its hub. It's also a base for Passion Air, a domestic airline in Ghana.

In 2019, 2020 and 2021, Kotoka International Airport was acknowledged as the "Best Airport in Africa" by Airports Council International.


Flota

Ghana International Airlines has only 1 aircraft in its fleet. This was the Boeing 757-200 and was leased from Astraeus, a British airline that ceased operations in 2011.
