About Honolulu International Airport
Daniel K. Inouye International Airport is an international airport located in Honolulu, on the Island of O'ahu. Also known as Honolulu International Airport, or even Honolulu Airport, this airport is one of the buseiest in the United States with over 21 million annual passengers.
The airport first opened in marzo 1927, where it was called John Rodgers Airport and was the first full airport in Hawaii. In 1947, the airport was renamed to Honolulu Airport, with the 'International' being added 4 years later. The airport remained with the same name until it was renamed in 2017 to its current form, where it was named after the late U.S. Senator, Daniel Inouye.
Honolulu Airport is the hub for Haawaiian Airlines, but also a number of cargo airlines including Aloha Air Cargo, Transair and Asia Pacific Airlines.

Runways
Honolulu Airport has 4 major runways, with one of them, the Reef Runway, being the world's first major runway constructed entirely offshore and was designed to be the alternate landing site for the Space Shuttle. Terminals
There are three terminals at this airport, with a shuttle bus; The Wiki Wiki Shuttle, going between terminals.
Terminal 1
First opened in 1993, this terminal was previously known as the 'Interisland Terminal'. Originally there were 8 gates at this terminal, but an additional 5 were added in the expansion of 1995 so that there are currently 13 gates. This terminal is the home of Hawaiian Airlines.
Terminal 2
Originally known as the 'Overseas Terminal', this terminal was first opened in 1962, but has been modernised and expanded since. There is currently 29 gates in this terminal, across 3 concourses and is home to airlines such as Asiana Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, Fiji Airways, Jetstar Airways and Qantas.
Terminal 3
Terminal 3 used to be known as the 'Commuter Terminal', and was only opened in 2018. Currently, this terminal is home to Mokulele Airlines.

How to get to Daniel K. Inouye International Airport
By Road
There are two main roads that provide great accessibility to the airport by road. These are the Nimitz Highway and the Queen Liliuokalani Freeway.
By Public Transport
There are multiple options for passengers wanting to get to or from the airport by bus, with the 19 and 20 routes connecting the airport to Pearlridge Center, Downtown Honolulu and Waikki. Route 31 stops at Tripler Ar,y Medical Center, and also the 9, 40, 42 and 51 stop within walking distance of the airport, on the Nimitz Highway.
