Iraqi Airways, known in Arabic as الخطوط الجوية العراقية al-Xuṭūṭ al-Jawwiyyah al-ʿIrāqiyyah, is the flag carrier of Iraq and is headquartered at Baghdad International Airport in Baghdad. Founded in 1945 and commencing operations the following year, it is the second-oldest airline in the Middle East.
The airline is a member of the Arab Air Carriers Organization, and operates domestic flights within Iraq, as well as regional services to the Middle East, Europe and Asia.
During the 1990s, this airline's operations were limited due to things such as suspensions and No-Fly Zones meaning both international and domestic services were affected and mostly grounded, with limited scheduled services and some Hajj flights permitted. However, after the end of the War in Iraq, the airline announced plans to resume international flights in 2004 with a flight between Baghdad and Amman. The airline also began interline and codeshare agreements with airlines such as Teebah Airlines, Blue Wings and Tor Air.
The fleet for Iraqi Airways is varied, with different models of Airbus, Boeing and Bombardier aircraft. There are plans to develop the current fleet with modern aircraft such as the Boeing Dreamliner, of which they currently have an order of 10.

Baghdad International Airport is the largest international airport in Iraq, just outside of the country's capital. The airport was opened in 1982 and has temporarily closed intermittently over the following decades until 2004 when the Iraqi government regained control of it. Plans were announced in 2010 for expansion of the airport, which is expected to double the capacity to 15 million passengers a year.
This airport is the hub for Iraqi Airways, FlyBaghdad. and, formerly, Al-Naser Airlines. A number of other airlines also fly to this airport, including Iran Air, Mahan Air, Turkish Airlines and flynas.
Iraqi Airlines only offers standard economy seating. On most aircraft, the seats are leather and comfortable, with padded headrests, and the staff are dedicated to providing the highest class of service.
The seats on Boeing aircraft offer seat-back monitors with a mini headphone jack so you can stay entertained and a USB charging port for your personal devices.
Currently, Iraqi Airways do not provide a premium economy class on board their flights.
There is a business class available on selected Iraqi Airways routes and aircraft. In the planes which have a business class, the number is limited to small numbers of around 12 seats. These seats are in a different section of the cabin, providing more privacy and solitude for your flight.
The seats in business are larger than in economy, providing more seat width and pitch so that you can stretch out and enjoy your flight.
Currently, there is no first class on Iraqi Airways flights. If you wish to have a premium experience, you can choose to upgrade from economy to business class on selected flights.
