About Islena Airlines

Islena Airlines was a regional airlines based in Honduras. It was founded in 1981 and mainly focused on serving domestic routes within Honduras. Islena Airlines operated a fleet of small aircraft that connected various cities to towns within the country.

The airline gained popularity as a reliable option for domestic travel in Honduras - it offered convenient connections and affordable fares.

In 2010, Islena Airlines merged with another Honduran airline, Sol Air, to form Grupo TACA, a regional airline conglomerate. Furthermore, in 2013, Grupo TACA merged with Avianca, one of the largest airlines in Latin America, to form Avianca Holdings. Because of this, Islena Airlines was rebranded to Avianca Honduras and became part of the Avianca Group.
