About Islena Airlines
Islena Airlines was a regional airlines based in Honduras. It was founded in 1981 and mainly focused on serving domestic routes within Honduras. Islena Airlines operated a fleet of small aircraft that connected various cities to towns within the country.
The airline gained popularity as a reliable option for domestic travel in Honduras - it offered convenient connections and affordable fares.
In 2010, Islena Airlines merged with another Honduran airline, Sol Air, to form Grupo TACA, a regional airline conglomerate. Furthermore, in 2013, Grupo TACA merged with Avianca, one of the largest airlines in Latin America, to form Avianca Holdings. Because of this, Islena Airlines was rebranded to Avianca Honduras and became part of the Avianca Group.

This couldn't weigh more than 10 kg (22 lbs) and not exceed the maximum dimensions of 55 x 35 x 25 cm. A personal item was also permitted - this could include a purse, a laptop bag or a small backpack.
Depending on the fare type, route and aircraft, the checked baggage allowance varied on flights with Islena Airlines.Passengers were typically allowed to bring one or two pieces of checked baggage, each weighing no more than 23 kg (50 lbs).
Islena Airlines didn't offer online check-in - passengers would have to check-in at the airport.
Passengers could check-in for Islena Airlines flights at the airport via the dedicated check-in counters.
Islena Airlines didn't provide many in-flight entertainment options. Its flights were very short therefore it didn't offer individual seatback entertainment screens or audio/video entertainment systems. The airline also used smaller aircraft that were not equipped with in-flight entertainment systems.
The food and drink options with Islena Airlines were limited. This is because the airlime primarily operated domestic, short-haul routes. Snacks and light refreshments may have been offered within an in-flight menu.
Islena Airlines didn't have its own frequent flyer program. After it merged with Avianca, it offered Avianca's loyalty scheme called LifeMiles.
Islena Airlines was not a member of any airline alliance. Now that it is Avianca Honduras, it is a member of the Star Alliance as it belongs to the Avianca Group.
Before it became Avianca Honduras, Islena Airlines operated its flights with the following aircraft in its fleet:
