About Italia Trasporto Aereo (ITA)

Italia Trasporto Aereo (ITA) is an Italian airline based in Rome, Italy. The airline is planning to use Rome Fiumicino Airport as the main hub and also focuses on Milan Linate Airport. The business plans for the airline is waiting for approval by the Italian authorities and the European Commission.

The aim of the carrier is to be efficient, innovative and competitive in the aviation market, providing customers the option to travel in their vast network, connecting many destinations in the world. In their first year, the airline is hoping to operate 61 routes with over 50 aircraft.

 


Destinos

Italia Trasporto Aereo (ITA) is panning to operate both domestic and international destinations. Domestic destinations the airline is looking to serve are Alghero, Bari, Bologna, Brindisi, Cagliari, Catania, Comiso, Florence, Lamezia, Naples, Olbia, Palermo, Reggio C., Trieste, Venice, Verona and Turin.

The international destinations they are eyeing to operate will be destinations within Europe including London, Brussels, Paris, Frankfurt, etc.

By 2025, they are hoping to fly to over 90 destinations.

Carry-on baggage must fit within the overhead lockers and beneath the seat in front. It must not contain any sharp and prohibited items including any fluid exceeding 100ml.

If personal items are included in the baggage allowance, it should only include items such as a laptop, a backpack and a camera.

Checked baggage must not exceed 32kg as the airline will not accept the baggage as checked baggage and fees will apply.

 


Check-In Information

Check-In Online

Details for airport check-in will be available closer to the airline launch.

The airline hasn't confirmed whether online check-in is available, but if it is, passengers are advised to check-in online prior to arriving at the airport. Passengers may be able to obtain their boarding pass once online check-in is completed.

Online check-in can be completed with the booking reference and passenger details. It must be completed before the online check-in deadline, otherwise, the passenger must check-in at the airport.

There may be travellers who are not eligible for online check-in, including unaccompanied minors, passengers with reduced mobility or group travels with more than nine passengers.

Passengers are recommended to arrive two hours before the scheduled departure time. Passengers should report to the airline check-in counters as soon as they arrive and must check-in before the airline check-in deadline, or the airline may refuse the passenger boarding.

The designated airline check-in area will be located on the signs and departure information board at the airport. Check-in desks will be labelled with the airline name and logo for passengers to locate them. Please seek airport staff assistance if you're unsure.

Airline Alliance

ITA isn't part of an airline alliance yet, it's unclear whether it'd join one but the previous Italian flag carrier, Alitalia, was a part of the SkyTeam Alliance.

 


Airline’s Fleet

It's unclear on the aircraft that will be deployed but the airline is set to have a fleet of between 55 to 60 aircraft. Many of which could be transferred from the Alitalia fleet which consists of the Airbus 320 family aircraft and Boeing 777 aircraft.

Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO), also known as Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport, is an international airport based in Rome. In 2019, the airport was serving around 43.5 million passengers per annum, making it one of the busiest airports in Europe. To accommodate this, the airport has three asphalt runways and three passenger terminals, of which, two are operational and the other one is under refurbishment.

The airport is a hub for Alitalia, Vueling and Wizz Air. Other airlines flying to the airport include, but not limited to, Aegean Airlines, Air Cairo, Air Canada, Air France, American Airlines, Blue Air, British Airways, China Eastern Airlines, Delta, easyJet, Emirates, Hainan Airlines, Jet2.com, Lufthansa, Neos, Ryanair, Transavia, Ural Airlines and WestJet.
