Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (IATA code: MSY) is an international airport in the Jefferson Parish area, Louisiana, in the United States. The airport is owned by the city of New Orleans and is the primary commercial airport serving the New Orleans metropolitan area and southeast Louisiana.

As of agosto 2019, MSY offers nonstop scheduled flights to Canada, Panama, and the United Kingdom. Seasonal flights are also available to Germany and Mexico.

Delta Air Lines, Southwest Airlines, and United Airlines provide seasonal weekend flights to Cancún. Since 2010, Air Canada Express has also been providing flights from Toronto–Pearson.

Air Transat has announced it will also be adding Armstrong International Airport to its winter seasonal schedule, operating on Thursdays and Sundays from noviembre 2019 - marzo 2020, to an from Montreal Pierre Elliott Trudeau international Airport.

Interesting Fact: MSY stands for Moisant Stock Yards. The yard was located near the airport and named after the famed aviator and barnstormer John B. Moisant, who was an early aviation pioneer.



The airport is located 11 miles (18 km) west of downtown New Orleans.

MSY is known for its lively atmosphere, with live music, light and bright decor and interior space, and comfortable seating.

Wi-Fi: There is free Wi-Fi throughout the airport.

Shopping and eating: Duty free shopping and concession stands can be found throughout the terminal. There are also numerous dining options.

Banking Services: Full-service banking and currency exchange is available at the Whitney Bank, located above the Concourse C checkpoint in the Parabola Lobby.

Charging stations: there are numerous charging locations throughout the airport, both pre and post security. There is also the option to rent or buy a charging qube, capable of charging many different devices. Mobile Qubes kiosks located in various locations, including baggage claim and on each Concourse.

Mothers rooms: One comfortable Mother's Room is provided on each concourse post-security.

Service animal relief areas: this area can be found in front of the east and west sides of the Short Term Parking Garage.

Additional facilities include ATM machines, express shipping drop boxes and post office facilities, and designated smoking areas.

Delta Sky Club

Delta Air Lines has a Delta Sky Club, which is located between Gates 2 & 4 on Concourse D and open daily 4.45am to 7.15pm (6.30pm on Saturdays). Access is reserved for passengers with specific credentials, such as premium tickets or elite status. Complimentary facilities include charging ports, Wi-Fi, flight monitors, newspapers and magazines, internet terminals, telephones, snacks and beverages, including alcoholic drinks.

New Orleans Louis Armstrong International Airport has two terminals (East and West), each with two concourses (A and B and C and D respectively) which are connected by a central ticketing alley.

Concourse A

The concourse has 6 Gates: A1, A3, A5, A6, A7, A8. This concourse was most recently home to Northwest Airlines (which has since merged with Delta Air Lines) and US Airways (which has since merged with American Airlines). As of agosto 2019, this concourse is closed until further notice.

Concourse B

Concourse B has 11 Gates: B1, B2, B4, B5, B7-B12, B15. This concourse is currently used by Southwest Airlines. The TSA has also taken over some of the otherwise vacant gate space for passenger screening.

Concourse C

All nonstop international arrivals are handled by Concourse C. The concourse also contains common-use and overflow gates, available for infrequent services and charter flights.

Concourse D

Concourse D has 12 operating Gates: D1 – D12. Airlines that operate from this concourse include: Delta Air Lines (Gates D2, D4, D6, D8, D10, D12), United Airlines (Gates D1, D3, D5, D7, D9, D11), and Air Canada Express (Gate D7).

How to get to Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport


By Bus

Nine daily departures connects MSY with downtown New Orleans. the Airport-Downtown Express (E-2) bus runs a 50-minute route between the airport and downtown New Orleans, via Airline Drive. The airport bus stop is located outside of Entrance 7 on the 2nd level. A one-way ticket costs $2.00 USD.

By Shuttle Service

Go Airport Shuttle New Orleans provides a door-to-door shared ride shuttle service between the airport and popular hotels in downtown New Orleans. Prices start from about $24.00 USD per person, each way. Some of the most popular hotels also provide a complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport.

By Taxi

Taxis are available 24 hours and can be picked up on the lower level, outside of baggage claim area. All taxis are metered, and a one-way fare between the airport and the Central Business District of New Orleans will be about $35 – $45 USD.

By Rental Car

Car rentals can be picked up in the Consolidated Rental Car Facility, which is located in a separate building and just a short walk from Concourses B, C and D. A sheltered walkway connects the facility to the outside of the West Terminal Baggage Claim (Claims 12 – 14). Car rental agencies that operate in the facility include: Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National, Payless and Thrifty.
