About Merpati Nusantara Airlines

Merpati Nusantara Airlines was an airline based in Jakarta, Indonesia. It offered flights to over 80 domestic and international destinations.

The airline was first founded in 1962 and operated under 'Merpati'. It has 2 hubs - one at Ngurah Rai International Airport and another at Juanda International Airport. It also had a base at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.

Merpati unfortunately suspended operations in 2014 due to financial and regulatory issues. It did have plans to relaunch although it eventually had its licence revoked in 2022 and was completely dissolved by the beginning of 2023.


Merpati Nusantara operated flights to over 80 domestic and international destinations.

Some of its domestic destinations included Bajawa, Biak, Bima, Denpasar, Ende, Jakarta, Kendari, Kupang, Luwuk, Mangole, Nabire, Okaba, Sawu, Sinabang, Tarakan, Ternate and Wamena, among many others. Soekarno-Hatta International Airport is the main airport serving the Jakarta area on the island of Java, Indonesia. The airport operates as a hub for Garuda Indonesia, but also for Aviastar, Batik Air, Cardig Air, Citilink, Express Air, Indonesia AirAsia, Lion Air and Sriwijaya Air. The airport has two runaways and in 2014, handled 62 million passengers becoming the 9th busiest airport in the world.

  • 14 x Xian MA60

It also had 40 orders of the Comas ARJ21-700 before all operations were suspended.
