Mexicana de Aviacion was Mexico's oldest airline and Mexico's biggest and flagship airline. The airline was founded in 1921 and ceased operations 89 years later in 2010 and further in 2014 declared bankruptcy. In addition to domestic services, Mexicana operated flights to international destinations in North America, Central America, the Caribbean, South America and Europe. Mexicana codeshared with Aeromar, Aeromexico, Air Canada, Air New Zealand, Avianca, Condor and Lufthansa. The airline's primary hub was Mexico City's Benito Juarez International Airport with secondary hubs at Cancun and Guadalajara. Now, Mexico is a massive travel hub for Latin America with many alternative airlines to choose from, so we can still get you no your way!
The Mexicana group of airlines which included Click and Link joined Oneworld in 2009.
Mexicana's main competitors were Aeromexico and low-cost carriers such as Interjet and Volaris.
In 2005, Aerocaribe was renamed Click Mexicana and replaced its fleet of McDonnell Douglas DC-9-30s with Fokker 100 twin-jet aircraft. Click was a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mexicana de Aviacion. Mexicana rebranded Click Mexicana as Mexicana Click with the announcement of the new corporate livery in noviembre 2008. Mexicana operated a frequent flyer program called Mexicana Go to reward regular passengers with Mexicana.
Mexicana previously flew to 80 destinations including Acapulco, Bogota, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Edmonton, Hamilton, Havana, Leon, Lima, London, Panama City, San Antonio, San Jose, Monterrey, San Francisco, San Juan, Las Vegas and many others.
Mexicana Airlines had a fleet of 130 aircraft with subsidiaries and consisted of:
Mexicana Air offered "Clase Elite", or business class, on all flights. Warm meals were served on all domestic and international flights longer than 40 minutes. Passengers also received snacks throughout the flight, selection of meals, and refreshments. The seats on the Boeing 767-300ER were 23 inches across and recline 160°; while seats on the Airbus 320 were 22 inches across and recline approx 100° degrees. The seats were dark blue with small Aztec logos embossed on the seat with a white headrest cover displaying Mexicana's logo in black.

Each passenger were permitted to carry-on one bag and one personal item such as a laptop bag, handbag, or briefcase and a maximum dimension 126 cm (length + width + height) and overall weight of 23 kg.
Within the airlines Executive Class, passengers were allowed to take three pieces of baggage. A maximum dimensions of 158 cm (length + width + height) and total weight of 64 kg. Whereas within the coach class passengers are one piece of 158 cm (length + width + height) and total weight 23 kg.
Mexicana Airlines allowed passengers to check-in up to 48 hours before the scheduled flight departure.
For domestic travel, passengers must check-in at the airport at least 60 minutes prior to departure.
For passengers flying internationally, arrival at the airport to check-in was recommended at least 90 minutes prior to departure.
Mexicana Air was part of the MexicanaGO program which started in March of 2009. With the MexicanaGO program, a member will earn points rather than earn miles. There are four membership tiers provided in the program. The starting tier is the 'Welcome' tier, the 'Explore' tier is reached by receiving 25,000 points or 30 flights, 'Discover' tier is gained when a member collects 40,000 points or 50 flights. Finally, the 'Conquer' is acquired when accumulating 80,000 points or 90 flights.
Cancun International Airport is located in Cancún, Quintana Roo, Mexico and is Mexico's second busiest airport for passenger traffic. In 2019, the airport handled over 25 million passengers.
It was the hub airport for Mexicana Airlines, but also other airlines such as MAYAir.
