Moov Airways Update

Moov Airways is a new airline, and in the early stages of startup. The airline has ambitious long-term aims, however there is no established timeline for when the carrier hopes to take to the skies. In the meantime, you can take a look at our list of alternative airlines below.

About Moov Airways

Moov Airways is a startup airline, set to operate long-haul flights out of Basel airport in Switzerland. Moov Airways will operate as a low-cost carrier, and has ambitious targets to operate direct, non-stop services to North American destinations from its main hub in Basel, as well as bases in other European destinations.

Moov Airways is the rebranded name of Swiss Skies, which was initially launched in 2018. However, after a year, in 2018 the startup was permanently stalled after failing to generate enough investment. What changed for Swiss Skies was the Coronavirus outbreak, enabling the airline to take advantage of the unforeseen availability of routes, airport slots, staff, and all other aspects of supply and distribution.

A revised launch date for Moov Airways has not been specified, and more information, including the onboard experience and ticket fares, has yet to be announced.

The airline hopes to operate long-haul flights to eastern areas of the United States (including New York), as well as Canada, South America, the Caribbean, the Middle East and, possibly, India. Moov Airways will operate flights from its primary base at Basel, as well as from other European destinations.

Swiss Skies rebrands to Moov Airways

Swiss Skies has rebranded itself as Moov Airways, and believes that the COVID-19 pandemic could help it finally get into the air. The airline initially launched in 2018, but a year later its plans were permanently stalled. However, Moov founder and CEO, Alvaro Oliveira, believes that the pandemic “creates an opportunity for new entrants”, and hopes that, with the rebrand, the airline will finally be able to commence operations.
