Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport (IATA: SJC), commonly referred to as San Jose International Airport is an international airport located in San Jose, California, United States. Named after the former Transport Secretary, Norman Mineta, a native of San Jose, this airport is city-owned. San Jose Airport serves the areas of Santa Clara County and Silicon Valley, making it the Bay Area’s second-busiest airport in terms of boarding passengers, despite San Jose being the largest city in the Bay Area. 2018 saw the airport deal with 14.32 million passengers, across 197 thousand aircraft operations.
There are currently no airlines hubbed at this airport, but Alaska Airlines, Delta Air Lines and Southwest Airlines all have focus city operations at this airport.
The idea of the airport was first conceived in the 1940s, where a runway, hangar and office building was built. The airport was first opened as San Jose Municipal Airport in 1965.

Terminals
Terminal A
Terminal A opened in 1990 and has 17 gates. Originally, the terminal was built for American Airlines but now is used by other airlines. The terminal has undergone extensive works in 2009 to improve and expand the area to better the facilities such as more ticketing counters, more efficient security checkpoints and more concessions.
Terminal B
Terminal B is the larger of the two terminals, with 19 gates. It is also newer, having only opened in 2010. The terminal features modern art, ticket counters and chairs with USB charging points, giving the airport a very modern feel. The terminal is mainly used for Southwest Airlines, along with Alaska Airlines, Hainan Airlines and British Airways.

How to get to San Jose International Airport
By Road
You can access the airport from a number of key roads, including Highway 85, Highway 87, Highway 101 (Southbound and Northbound). There are a number of airport-owned car parks that you can use to leave your car for your trip or holiday.
By Public Transport
There are a number of options of public transport to and from the airport. Trains and buses regularly run from destinations around the airport to destinations within Amtrak and Santa Clara.
