Phuket International Airport (IATA code: HKT) is an international airport that serves the Phuket Province of Thailand.

Phuket Island is a popular resort destination in the southern part of Thailand and is home to world famous Phuket beaches. The airport plays a major role in the country's tourism industry.

The airport is a hub for three airlines: Bangkok Airways, Thai AirAsia, and Thai Airways.

Location

 

The airport is towards the north of Phuket Island, 32 kilometres (20 mi) from the centre of Phuket City.

ATMs / Cash Machines: ATMs are available throughout the terminal building. 

Currency Exchange: The airport has 4 currency exchange counters in the arrival hall. There is also one counter in the departure hall.

Duty Free & Shopping: Despite not being a very large airport, Phuket has a number of  shopping and duty free shopping options available, selling a variety of goods including newspapers, books and Thai handicrafts.

Eating: Both Landside and Airside, there are a different dining options available. The only large restaurant in the airport is the Thai Airways International Restaurant, situated on the third floor of the airport. There are also take-away options available.  

Mobile Charging: Both Airside and Landside, there are a number of charging ports for digital devices. 

Smoking: Smoking is not allowed in the main airport building, but there is a Smokers’ Pub and Cafe where smoking is permitted, which can be found in the terminal hall, floor 2. 

Spa: There are sauna and apa facilities available, which can be found in the main termianl hall, floor 2.

Coral Beach Lounge: Complimentary facilities include air con, drinks (soft drinks only), newspapers/magazines, TVs, WiFi, and flight monitors. The lounge is open 6:00AM – 10:00PM and located in Terminal 1, Airside, domestic departures area (next to gate 6). The lounge is available for all passengers, who are able to purchase a pass (fees apply). 

Coral Beach Executive Lounge: Complimentary facilities include air con, drinks (soft drinks), free neck and schoulder massage, newspapers/magazines, and WiFi. The lounge is open 6:00AM – 10:00PM and located in Terminal 1, Airside, on the 3rd Floor. The lounge is available for all passengers, who are able to purchase a pass (fees apply). 

International Lounges

Coral Beach Lounge: Complimentary facilities include air con, drinks (including alcohol), newspapers/magazines, TVs, WiFi, childrens play area, neck and shoulder massage (free), premium food and snacks, telephones and flight monitors. Showers and spa available for a fee. The lounge is open 6:00AM – 10:00PM and located International Airside, on the 4th floor. The lounge is available for all passengers, who are able to purchase a pass (fees apply).

The airport has one runway, designated 09/27, measuring 3,000 by 45 metres (9,843 ft × 148 ft).

Terminals

 

The airport has three terminals: Terminal 2, which is used for international flights; Terminal 3, which is used for domestic flights; and Terminal X, which is used for for charter flights.

How to get to Phuket International Airport

 

By Bus

The Phuket airport bus provides a service to Phuket Town. Buses depart hourly and run until 6.30pm. 

By Taxi

A metered taxi stand is located outside of the airport's main terminal building. The average fares from Phuket airport are as follows: Phuket Town - 400 baht, Patong - 550 baht, Kata/Karon - 600 baht plus a 100 baht airport surcharge. Check the fare with your driver before departing. The journey to the town centre takes about 30 minutes.

Private Minibus

There are several companies that provide minibus services at Phuket airport. Service counters are located outside the terminal building, on the arrivals level. Fixed price lists are available for private minibus and shared minibus transfers. Shared Minibuses can carry up to 10 people and cost around 200 baht per person.

Car Rental

There are a number of companies with onsite counters which provide car hire, including Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Europcar, Hertz, National, Nissan, Sixt and Thrifty.
