About Primera Air Nordic

Primera Air Nordic was a Latvian operating licensed airline and a subsidiary of Primera Air.

Primera Air Nordic was established in 2014. Primera Air Scandinavia is also another subsidiary of Primera Air, an Icelandic owned Airline which was founded in 2003.

Primera Air Nordic operated 2 B737-700s and 5 B737-800s on scheduled passengers flights from cities in Iceland, Sweden, Finland, and Norway to leisure destinations in Morocco, Spain, Iceland, Cyprus, Italy, Greece, Portugal, Malta and Croatia.

Primera Air Scandinavia, Primera Air's other subsidary, is headquartered in Riga, Latvia and flies to over 70 destinations. Primera Air Scandinavia has grown steadily over the recent years and now has established services to the Middle East, Asia, Mediterranean, the Caribbean and Atlantic.

The parent company is the Primera Travel Group and in 2004 Primera Air Scandinavia added a Latvian operating license under the name of Primera Air Nordic. Originally Primera Air Scandinavia was founded as JetX in Iceland and operated under an Icelandic AOC. In 2008 it rebranded itself as Primera Air.

Primera Air Scandinavia operates round-way flights from Scandinavia to many holiday destinations including Turkey, Madeira, Bulgaria, the Canary Islands and along the Mediterranean coastline of Europe. Primera Air Scandinavia maintains winter and summer season schedules.

From 2014, Primera Air Scandinavia introduced 10 new winter direct flights from Iceland, including Tenerife, Las Palmas, Alicante, Salzburg, Malaga, Mallorca and Barcelona, Bologna, Crete and Bodrum.

From 2016 Primera Air Scandinavia began flying to Croatian destinations (pula and Dubrovnik), from Billund to Nice and Venice; Turkey (Antalya). In 2017, Primera Air Scandinavia plan to expand routes fly to Kalamata, Ponta Delgada and Madeira. Checked Baggage is not included in the ticket price.

In octubre 2016, Primera Air Scandinavia announced it will introduce scheduled flights from Stockholm next summer season in a bid to strengthen its operations in Sweden and Scandinavia in general. The Danish leisure operator will launch three weekly services to each of Milan Malpensa and Rome Fiumicino from mayo 2017 respectively.

The airline’s Commercial Vice President Anastasija Visnakova said in a press release that the new flights will significantly increase Primera's presence in Sweden, while additional destinations will be introduced as a result of a planned fleet expansion.

Initially, Primera Air operated charter flights for major Scandinavian tour operators but gradually started selling surplus seats as "flight-only" tickets on some of the fixed charter flights in 2013. The continued success allowed Primera Air to increase both the number of routes and flight frequency, resulting in a mixed charter/scheduled carrier business model. Today the majority of Primera Air flights are scheduled, although some flights combine charter and regular passengers, and separate full charter flight services are also available. Primera Air has also announced increased flight frequency for flights to its most popular destinations in southern Spain, and the pricing policy on these routes has allowed it to compete with the low-cost carrier Norwegian.
