Registered Traveller is an expedited passport control membership scheme for foreign travellers who regularly enter the UK. Pre-approved Registered Traveller members are given access to the UK/EU self-service ePassport gates and avoid the long queues at non-UK/EU passport control.
To apply for Registered Traveller you must:
Registered Traveller is no longer taking applications for the following countries: Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea and the United States. This is because travellers from these countries no longer require Registered Travellers to use the ePassport gates in the UK.
Once you're an approved member of Registered Traveller, you can use the ePassport Gates found at any of the participating UK airports. As well as the EU/EEA queue at other UK borders.
If you have one, you'll still need to carry your biometric residence permit if you're a Registered Traveller.
Yes, you do have to sign up to use Registered Traveller. All travellers will undergo rigorous background checks and must be pre-approved by the UK government.
Travellers can apply by filling out the Registered Traveller online application form. All applications cost £70 for the first year and £50 for every year its renewed. Unsuccessful applicants will receive a £50 refund.
Travellers can expect to hear if their application is successful within 5–10 working days.
If accepted, you'll become a provisional member of Registered Traveller. To complete your membership, the next time you enter the UK use the 'Other passports' lane at passport control. The officer at passport control will complete your membership when they process your arrival.
