About Salt Lake City International Airport

Salt Lake City International Airport (IATA: SLC) is an international civil-military airport located just outside Salt Lake City, Utah, United States. This airport serves the areas of Salt Lake City, Northern Utah, and even parts of Wyoming and Idaho, because it is the closest commercial airport within a large radius.

The airport has over 340 scheduled daily non-stop flights departing to 93 cities in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Europe, and is also Delta Air Line's 4th-largest hub. The airport also ranks highly for on-time departures, arrivals and flight cancellations in the U.S., coming first in 2017. 2018 saw the airport handle over 25.5 million passengers, across over 332 thousand aircraft movements.

The airport was previously the location of an airfield, where it was used for aerobatic flights and training, followed by being used by the US Postal Service in 1920 where it was named Woodward Field. In 1930, the airport was renamed to Salt Lake City Municipal Airport, with the first terminal and airport administration building being built in the following years.

Facilities

The airport has a size of over 7,700 acres. Although the current facilities are sufficient, the airport. has plans to add a new terminal with two new concourses. This will provide a dramatic improvement to the already-existing facilities at the airport. The construction for this began in marzo 2019.

Delta Sky Club: As the only lounge currently in Salt Lake City Airport, this Delta lounge is only available for those with a Delta Sky Club membership. It offers users drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), snacks, printers and photocopiers, TVs, telephones and WiFi.

Terminals

 

Terminal 1

With two concourses; G (formerly concourse A) and F (formerly Concourse B), this terminal is home to all airlines, except Delta and KLM

Terminal 2

This terminal is home to concourse C, and is predominantly used for Delta flights.

International Terminal

Opened in 1995, this terminal is home to concourses D and E. However, in 2021, this terminal and its concourses are expected to be demolished to make room for the new North and South Concourses as part of the airport expansion.

How to get to Salt Lake City International Airport

 

By Road

You can access the airport from the I-80, exit 115B or from I-215, exit 22 or 22B. Alternatively, you can access via road from North Temple street or Utah State Route 154.

By Public Transport

THe airport is connected to the wider region and city with services such as the TRAX light rail, UTA Buses and FrontRunner commuter rail.
