Previous to Samara Airlines ceasing all operations in 2008, the airline operated flights in Samara, Russia. The airline was a scheduled and chartered carrier that ticketed flights to and from Samara and around Russia as well as other countries belonging to the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States). Charter flights were operated to countries such as Greece, Israel, Spain and a few others.
The airline was first established in 1961 as Aeroflot, but later in 1992 was rebranded to become Samara Airlines.

The Kurumoch International Airport (KUF) is the international airport of Samara, Russia. The airport itself was named after a village close by and is located north of the city. Kurumoch Airport was first established for domestic flights in 1961 when Samara Airlines used the airport as its hub, however, when they ceased operations in 2008, Airports of Regions took over. In agosto 218, the airport was noted for being the 13th highest in Russia for passenger count, a steady increase from the previous year.
