Satena is a Colombian regional airline based in Bogota and operates flights throughout Colombia. It's has a main hub located at El Dorado International Airport. The airline was launched by the Colombian Government in 1962 to provide air transportation to the remoter regions of Colombia. By 2007 the airline has grown into a major regional carrier operating a large number of domestic services on a very modern fleet of small commuter aircraft. Satena flies to over 40 destinations across South America such as Mexico, Jamaica, Cuba and Pasto.

To complete online check-in, passengers will need to enter the relevant details of their booking between 24–2 hours before their flight is scheduled to depart. For a quick and easy process at the airport, please have your boarding pass printed and ready to show at the check-in desk.
Passengers can check in at the airport for their flight by visiting one of the check-in agents and the check-in desk. The airport check-in deadline is one hour before the scheduled flight departure time if you have baggage to drop off. Whereas, airport check-in deadline is 45 minutes before the scheduled flight departure time if you only have carry-on baggage or no baggage at all.
Passengers are entitled to one item of carry-on baggage and one personal item. Carry-on baggage must not exceed 5kg / 11lbs in weight and must fit within the dimensions of 43cm x 34cm x 20cm (17in x 13in x 8in). Personal items must fit within the dimensions of 15cm x 20cm x 10cm (6in x 8in x 4in). You must not pack any prohibited items in you're carry-on as this will be removed and disposed at security. Prohibited items include illegal substances, liquids over 100ml, explosives and flammable liquids.
Passengers are allowed 15kg / 55lbs of checked baggage, included in the price of their ticket.

El Dorado International Airport (BOG) is an international airport serving Bogotá, Colombia and the areas surrounding. The airport has its main passenger terminal also known as Terminal 1 (T1). Terminal 1 is shaped like a 'h' and is split int 2 piers: the international pier on the north side and the domestic pier on the south side. T1 has a number of of check-in counter areas, check-in kiosks and expanded immigration lanes, compared to the previous old terminal.

Although the number of domestic passengers carried by airlines reduced slightly by 0.3%, The Oficina de Transporte Aéreo (OTA) announced an increase of 12% of passengers using the airline in 2017. This is the first year that the number of people on Satena services has risen above 1 million, as well as the first year that revenue exceeded $200 million. Due to this, the airline has been given the go-ahead to widen its operation, already offering 36 destinations in Colombia.
