2020 Six Nations
FAQs

Is the six nations every year?

The Six Nations is played every year between the top six rugby union-playing countries in Europe: England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, France and Italy.

Who's won the most six nations?

Wales currently hold the overall Six Nations record, with 39 victories. 27 were outright, and 12 were shared. England has had 38 victories, with the highest record of outright wins, at 28 (and 10 shared).

How does the six nations work?

There are 6 teams, one for each 'Nation': England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, France, and Italy. Each team plays each other once. Home and away fixtures alternate each year. If a team wins they are awarded four points, and if they draw they are awarded two points. A bonus point system was introduced in 2016, which means that teams receive an extra point if they score four or more tries, or if they lose by seven points or less.
