About Sounds Air

Sounds Air is a small regional airline based in New Zealand. The airline was founded in 1986 by couple Cliff and Diane Marchant. Their vision was to provide low-cost flights to the Marlborough Sounds, a collection of ancient sunken river valleys filled with the waters of the Pacific Ocean, at the northern end of the South Island of New Zealand.

As of 2021, as well as flying to Marlborough Sounds, the airline also operates both scheduled passenger flights and private charter flights to Cook Strait, Wellington, and Nelson.
