About Southern Airways

Southern Airways was a regional airline based in Atlanta, USA. It was founded in 1944 and flew to many domestic destinations in the United States.

The airline was based at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. It had a fleet consisting of a range of aircraft including the McDonnell Douglas DC-9 and the Douglas DC-3.

Southern Airways ceased operations in 1979 when it merged into North Central Airlines to eventually become Republic Airlines. Republic Airlines then ceased operations in 1986 after it merged into Northwest Airlines.

After many more years, Northwest Airlines also ceased operations and merged into Delta Air Lines in 2010.
