The airport opened in 1931 and serves cities within the United States and Europe. The airport has an area of 1,111 acres and owns two runways. The airport was the first state-owned airport in the United States.

Main Terminal

T. F. Green International airport's terminal has been named after the former Rhode Island governor Bruce Sundlun. The terminal has two concourses, north and south. The North Concourse has 14 gates whereas the South Concourse has 8 gates. Gates 7 and 8 are built for international arrivals which are connected to the customs and is on the lower level of the concourse.

Providence Train Station has connections to southern Rhode Island and the Boston metropolitan areas via the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) commuter rail service system. Trains stop at the InterLink transportation hub, located within a short walk from the airport terminal via moving walkway. In addition to this, the airport is served by the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) and run bus routes 1, 8, 14 and 20.
