The airport opened in 1928 and serves cities within the United States. The airport has an area of 4,360 acres and owns three runways. The airport is the global maintenance headquarters for American Airlines.

The main terminal consists of two concourses - Concourse A and Concourse B. Concourse A has in total 21 departure gates labelling from A1 to A11.
