Virgin Australia Regional Airlines is an Australian regional airline that operates flights out of its hub base, Perth Airport (PER). The airline is one of the top choices for domestic flights within Australia, particularly within and from the Western Australia region. It currently operates 14 regularly scheduled flights within Australia and its territories.
The airline was founded in 1963 as Carnarvon Air Taxis and flying charter flights. Carnarvon Air later in 1979 changed its brand name to Skywest Aviation and moved to Perth Airport (PER). Skywest Airlines under its new name bought out Stillwell Airlines and its routes; as well as its 39 aircraft and made it the second-largest commuter airline in Australia at the time. The airline in 1982 also merged with Transwest Airlines.
In abril 2013, Virgin Australia acquired Skywest Airlines and the airline became part of the Virgin Australia brand. Since then, it has been flying as the regional airline of Virgin Australia, which has further established its credibility as a household name for flights within Australia.
The airline's baggage includes all bags, carry-ons, laptop bags, purses and other items. All baggage must be weighed.
