Virgin Australia Regional Airlines is an Australian regional airline that operates flights out of its hub base, Perth Airport (PER). The airline was founded in 1963 as Carnarvon Air Taxis and flying charter flights. Carnarvon Air later in 1979 changed its brand name to Skywest Aviation and moved to Perth Airport (PER). Skywest Airlines under its new name bought out Stillwell Airlines and its routes; as well as its 39 aircraft and made it the second-largest commuter airline in Australia at the time. The airline in 1982 also merged with Transwest Airlines. On April 2013, Virgin Australia acquired Skywest Airlines and the airline became part of the Virgin Australia brand.
