Viva Air Colombia, previously VivaColombia, is a Colombian low-cost airline that primarily offers domestic flights throughout Colombia but also flies to destinations in Peru and the US. The airline has airport hubs in Bogotá (BOG), Medellin (MDE) and Santa Marta (SMR) and flies to more than 10 destinations overall.
The airline launched in 2012, initially operating with only a domestic route network. Within two years of flying, the airline flew its first set of international flights between Medellin and Bogota to Panama City. This route was eventually discontinued and replaced with international services to Lima, Peru and, the airline's first intercontinental flight, to Miami.
Viva Air Colombia initially operated under the name and branding, VivaColombia but rebranded to Via Air Colombia in 2018. The airline is owned by Irelandia Aviation, which specialises in creating low-cost airlines all across the world, including Ryanair, Allegiant Air, Tigerair, VivaAerobus and Viva Air Perú.
As of enero 2020, the airline's fleet consists of more than 20 Airbus A320-200. However, it has a bulk order in place of 35 Airbus A320neo, which it plans to phase in and replace its current fleet.

Those who don't purchase the Combo++ fare can purchase carry-on baggage separately at en extra cost.

Viva Air Colombia has one cabin class — Economy Class. The Economy cabin offers value for money, with a stripped-back service designed to get you from A to B safely and comfortably.
Within the Economy Class cabin, there are three different fares that passengers can purchase. Each fare gives different benefits:
Passengers can purchase food and drink when offered by the flight attendants once in-flight.
Seats are set out in a 3 x 3 formation and give the standard amount of seat pitch and width for the Airbus A330 aircraft.
As a low-cost airline operating short-haul and medium-haul flights, Viva Air Colombia doesn't have an in-flight entertainment system installed on its flights. Passengers are welcome to bring their own devices onboard for entertainment, however, the airline doesn't have a WIFI network so any media will need to be downloaded pre-flight.
Currently, the airline doesn't offer WIFI on any of its flights, regardless of whether the route is domestic or international.
Passengers can purchase food and drink from the airline flight attendants, with a choice of snacks and drinks.
Viva Air Colombia doesn't have a frequent flyer program.
Viva Air Colombia isn't a part of any existing airline alliance.
Although Viva Air Colombia has three airports within Colombia that it bases itself at, José María Córdova International Airport (MDE), Medellin is its primary hub. The airline has used José María Córdova International as its hub since it started flying. The airport has a single runway and one terminal building.
Currently, Viva Air Colombia is the only airline in Colombia that uses José María Córdova International as its primary. However, other airlines that fly to and from the airport include Avianca, Air Europa, Copa Airlines, LATAM, Aruba Airlines and Wingo.
