WestAf Gambia is a Gambian airline that flies under the WestAf brand. The airline flies passenger flights from Gambia to several destinations across West Africa. The airline is based Banjul International Airport (BJL) and flies to more than 5 destinations, reaching countries such as Mali, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Dakar and Senegal.
The airline has not yet launched. It had plans to launch in mayo 2021 but this was pushed back due to ongoing travel restrictions amid the coronavirus pandemic. The airline doesn't have an official launch date in place but is hopeful that it'll fly before the end of 2021.
WestAf has claimed itself as Africa's first 'true' low-cost carrier. The airline will focus on delivering what it believes to be a cost-controlled operation that will allow it to offer flights at cheaper fares than other airlines within the region. The things that the airline will focus on include a well-thought-out route network, cost-effective fleet, one-way tickets and a hub airport that allows for flexibility.
WestAf Gambia also has plans to launch a sister airline, WestAf Algeria. Although, plans are still in the very early stages.
WestAf Gambia is based in Banjul and flies to several destinations across West Africa, including to Praia, Monrovia, Bamako, Bissau, Freetown and others.

WestAf Gambia hasn't released information on its baggage allowances as of yet. However, it has announced that it plans to unbundle its fares to offer cheap base-rate tickets with the option to add extra onto its flights, including baggage.
This means that the airline will not give a free checked baggage allowance on its flights.
It's possible that the airline will give a free carry-on baggage allowance. However, this is not definite as in recent times, many low-cost airlines have started charging for carry-on baggage.
As a low-cost airline, WestAf Gambia will fly with one cabin, with standardised seating. This is its Economy Class.
The Economy Class cabin offers a comfortable but stripped-back service. Passengers can purchase a seat-only unbundled fare and add on extras to upgrade their flight, such as baggage as in-flight meals.
Seats are set out in a 2 x 2 configuration.
The airline serves food, drink and in-flight meals. This comes at an extra cost to the flight ticket and can be purchased pre-flight or during the flight.
There's no information on whether WestAf will have in-flight entertainment or WIFI on its flights.
As a low-cost airline, it's very unlikely that the airline will offer in-flight entertainment.
It might offer WIFI, however, if it does, this will come as an extra cost to the flight ticket.
WestAf plans to fly with a fleet of Dash-8 Q400 planes. These planes will all have standardised seating with equal pitch.
Banjul International Airport (BJL) is the main international airport in Banjul, Gambia and the hub airport for WestAf Gambia. The airline will use Banjul International as its main hub as it has the best options for connecting Gambia with the rest of West Africa within the country. In fact, the airport is currently the only international airport within the country.
There are currently no airlines based at Banjul International other than when WestAf Gambia launches flights from there. Although, there are plenty of airlines that use the airport for flights in and out of the country, including Air Senegal, Brussels Airlines, Royal Air Maroc, Turkish Airlines Vueling and more!
As WestAf Gambia is set to be the only airline in Gambia, so there aren't any direct alternatives. However, there are a few airlines that fly similar routes to WestAf Gambia:
