With a global customer base and offices near Gatwick Airport, Alternative Airlines is an online travel agency (OTA) which offers a wider choice of flights for its customers. By working with more airlines worldwide, including smaller regional airlines and low-cost carriers, we offer a greater choice of flight options at lower prices. We specialise in flight-only sales and offer over 600 airlines on our easy-to-use site. Due to sustained growth, we are now expanding our team and looking for a brilliant Customer Service Agent to join our Customer Service team.

Essential Skills

  • Confident telephone manner.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Amadeus GDS and/or travel agency experience preferable but not essential.
  • Be able to multitask at a fast pace whilst maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
  • Passion for customer service and helping our customers to book their flights and respond to their enquiries.
  • Highly organised, proactive, able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • One year of experience with Amadeus preferred.

The Role

  • Answering calls, emails and live chat for customer queries regarding their booking.
  • Responding to customers feedback on key review websites.
  • Building flight itineraries for our clients.
  • Processing refunds, cancellations and reissues.
  • Issuing flight tickets made via www.alternativeairlines.com.
  • Dealing with schedule changes.
  • Working hard to ensure high level of customer satisfaction to retain customers.

Vacancy Back-end Developer

We are expanding the team and looking for someone with a passion for back-end development and making websites and applications that work well across multiple browsers and devices. The role will be focused on the back-end development of Alternative Airlines’ platform and projects. We are enjoying a period of high growth and have clear traffic goals from our current base of 300,000 monthly users to 500,000 by 2019 and 1 million by 2020. Projects will include developing the platform of Alternative Airlines from an English-only site into a multi-language site attractive to our global customer base and API integrations to broaden the scope of Alternative Airlines' offering. The role will have real responsibility and decision-making authority to control and develop the platform of Alternativeairlines.com. There will be an opportunity also to work on front-end projects as well as part of a small, but expanding team.

We have built a strong online presence, www.alternativeairlines.com, with an ultra quick flight booking capability and an expanding, global customer base of delighted consumers. With a new customer-focused approach to a huge, well-established market for air travel, the organisation has built a reputation for innovation, attention to detail and doing things differently. Alternative Airlines is enjoying an exciting period of high growth as shown by yearly growth rates of 86% from £2.9m in 2016 to £9.9m in 2018.

Due to sustained growth, we are now expanding our team and looking for a brilliant Finance Manager to join our dynamic management team. This new role will be involved in all financial aspects of Alternative Airlines including protecting and developing margins, utilising technology to provide the best possible reporting in a high turnover/low margin business and working with Alternative Airlines' key payment partners. The position requires strategic and professional leadership and the ability to build a high-performing team to underpin our continued growth with strong financial controls.

Working closely with an exceptionally talented and driven management team, you will need to have the ambition to embrace change and develop the financial aspects of Alternative Airlines. In return, this is an opportunity to forge a long term career in a high-tech environment where you will be a major part of every decision and every development driving success in a unique and engaging industry.

It is possible, but not essential, that you will be a qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA from a recognised accounting firm or graduate scheme, but more importantly your previous experience will need to be coupled with a hunger and desire to play a major part in a challenging high growth and high tech business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Taking personal ownership of financial reporting, analysis and insight
  • Protecting and developing margins from online bookings
  • Working with the Managing Director to optimise cash and currency management, develop relationships with key payment partners and enable payments to suppliers via virtual payment card accounts
  • Ensuring that all commercial risks are highlighted and minimised during fast growth
  • Moving quickly from a hands-on management position to that of a strategic CFO, during a period of significant growth
  • Understanding and experience using Git and Git workflows
  • Working closely with in-house development team to develop and enhance the back-office financial architecture for a high volume/low margin business
