With a unique customer-focused approach to a huge, well-established market for air travel, the organisation has built a reputation for innovation, attention to detail and doing things differently. Alternative Airlines is enjoying an exciting period of high growth as shown by yearly growth rates of 86% from £2.9m in 2016 to £19.2m in 2019 with expected continued growth towards a £100m revenue business within 3 years.

Due to sustained growth, we are now expanding our team and looking for a highly proactive, entrepreneurial Global Airlines Relationship Manager.

Reporting directly to the Head of Commercial, the role will be responsible for managing relationships between airline partners and Alternative Airlines. Alternative Airlines’ platform is unique with its sole focus on providing a great flight booking experience through its easy-to-use interface. Our technology allows us to sell over 650 airlines linking airlines’ systems with our booking interface through GDS, API and direct connections. This wide choice of airlines and flights is important and we want to develop this further and looking for a great Relationship Manager to do so.

The Role

  • Developing and negotiating commercial agreements with airlines
  • Sourcing of competitive fares for global markets through both traditional distribution methods such as GDS and BSP and non-traditional distribution connections
  • Building relationships with smaller, regional airlines to enable these airlines to be sold on www.alternativeairlines.com
  • Be responsible for sourcing of content on the Alternative Airlines platform through different sources of technology connection including NDC, GDS, direct API connections and virtual interlining
  • Point of contact for GDS and third party suppliers’ relationships
  • Working with Alternative Airlines’ Partnership Executive to develop new marketing and promotional opportunities with airlines
  • Identification and exploration of new revenue streams
  • Protection of content / inventory (plate, connectivity, systems)
  • Sales performance monitoring and optimisation based on volume, revenues and contract values
  • Working with Alternative Airlines’ Ticketing Team to optimise sales performance
  • Development of yearly incentives and marketing fund budgets for selected carriers

With a global customer base and offices near Gatwick Airport, Alternative Airlines is an on-line travel agency (OTA) which offers a wider choice of flights for its customers. By working with more airlines worldwide, including smaller regional airlines and low-cost carriers, we offer a greater choice of flight options at lower prices. We specialise in flight-only sales and offer over 600 airlines on our easy-to-use site.

Due to sustained growth, we are now expanding our team and looking for a skilled trainer who can build and deliver robust training plans within our Customer Service team. This will include Amadeus GDS, customer handling skills, and developing processes and training manuals.

The Role

  • Work alongside the Operations Manager and fellow Customer Service manager to manage a customer facing team

Vacancy UX Designer

The UX Designer role will be focused on the front-end of Alternative Airlines’ platform, and projects will include a complete overhaul of the front end of the website. Designing new features for the flight booking process, as well as customer-facing landing pages to promote new features and airlines available through Alternativeairlines.com.

Working collaboratively, and alongside a cross-functional team you will take a user-centred design approach to address complex design problems and work closely with front end devs and a designer.

You’ll devise compelling ideas, ideate possibilities and create concepts at different levels of fidelity. You will have a hands on approach with an analytical mindset, that will really delve into why users on our site do what they do, and how you can make their booking experience better.

Through effective analytical research and prototyping, the successful candidate will help create an excellent user experience across all devices including desktop, mobile and tablet.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 2 Years previous experience in a UX and UI designer role (on an e-commerce website) is essential (travel related background would be even better!)
  • Experience working with design tools such as Sketch, Axure, or Adobe Creative Suite is essential.
  • Experience in responsive design across multiple touch points.
  • Good communication skills including the ability to deliver presentations using structure and style appropriate to your audience.

The Role

  • Evaluating the alternativeairlines.com website to understand trends and best practice within the travel industry by identifying issues and opportunities to increase conversion.

We are expanding the team and looking for someone with a passion for back-end development and making websites and applications that work well across multiple browsers and devices. The role will be focused on the back-end development of Alternative Airlines’ platform and projects. We are enjoying a period of high growth and have clear traffic goals from our current base of 300,000 monthly users to 500,000 by 2019 and 1 million by 2020. Projects will include developing the platform of Alternative Airlines from an English-only site into a multi-language site attractive to our global customer base and API integrations to broaden the scope of Alternative Airlines' offering. Many of Alternative Airlines' back-end projects include integrating with new payment partners and direct API connections with airlines. The role will have real responsibility and decision-making authority to control and develop the platform of Alternativeairlines.com. There will be an opportunity also to work on front-end projects as well as part of a small, but expanding team.

Designing and implementing new features into the flight booking process, creating customer-facing landing pages to promote new features and airlines available through Alternativeairlines.com as well as the management of the existing front-end platform.
  • Working collaboratively, and alongside a cross-functional team you will take a user-centred development approach to address complex design problems and work closely with other front end devs and a designer.
  • You’ll devise compelling ideas, ideate possibilities and create concepts at different levels of fidelity. You will have a hands on approach with a keen eye for bringing designs to life with great interfaces whilst maintaining the structural integrity and standard of the frontend codebase.
  • Through effective implementation, the successful candidate will help create an excellent user experience across all devices including desktop, mobile and tablet.
